Removing the Action

A: Removing a Yamaha action. Arrow indicates soft pedal rod disengaged from hammer rail. B: Sustain pedal rod attached to damper lift rod (24). Note how the pin projects through rubber grommet. This has to be refitted as the action is replaced in the piano. C: (different piano) Mute strip which usually has to be removed. Top arrow shows top action bracket secured to bolt by knob, while bottom arrow shows foot of bracket sitting in cup. Middle arrow points to top of soft pedal rod connecting to hammer rail bracket. D: Underside of action showing some of the same fittings. The green material is wippen cloth that contacts with the key capstans.
